exceeded
chlorite reported
While not an emergency, customers will be mailed
notices regarding a brief episode of levels of chlorite in the water
system that exceeded state regulations. The Authority took immediate
steps to correct the problem, and follow-up tests have revealed that
water from the plant meets or exceeds all state law requirements.

Level 1 Drought Watch
Customers in Chula Vista, National City
and Bonita are asked to continue voluntary water conservation, up to
ten percent.
Like most water agencies in Southern California, the imported water
supply to Sweetwater Authority was reduced beginning July 1, 2009.
However, unlike most other agencies, Sweetwater Authority is
encouraging customers to meet water reduction goals through
community outreach and education programs, without penalties or
mandatory water use restrictions.
Sweetwater Authority’s investments in drought-proof water
resources over many decades have provided more flexibility in
responding to current water supply conditions. For more, see
press
release.
